- Best time to visit: December to March and July to October; April and May are the main rainy months
- Getting there: A short flight from Nairobi to Ukunda (Diani) airstrip, or Mombasa plus a road transfer
Diani Beach is a long stretch of white sand on Kenya’s south coast, about 30 km south of Mombasa. Palm trees, coral reef and warm Indian Ocean water make it a popular way to rest after the early starts of a safari.
Things to do at Diani
- Beach days: swim, relax and walk along a reef-protected shore.
- Marine excursions: dolphin-watching and snorkelling trips to the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park are a popular day out.
- Watersports: kitesurfing, snorkelling, diving and paddle boarding.
- Wildlife on land: colobus monkeys live in the coastal forest, and Shimba Hills National Park is within reach.

December to March is hot and dry, and July to October is cooler and also pleasant. Expect heavy rain in April and May.
