Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is known for large elephant herds, giant baobab trees and an excellent dry season, when animals from a wide area gather along the Tarangire River. It is a popular first stop in northern Tanzania because it is close to Arusha.

Highlights

  • Some of Tanzania’s biggest elephant herds
  • Baobab trees that dominate the landscape
  • Lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and many bird species
  • Peaceful scenery that suits photography

Best time to visit

June to October is the best period for game viewing. During the rains, animals disperse and the park is greener and quieter.

Plan your Tarangire safari
